The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Tuesday, unveiled its football team, nicknamed "D’ Bulldozers" in Abuja.

The football team which will take part in the FCT league, is targeted at providing a platform for talented youths in the country to earn a living, according to NYCN President, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja, Ugochinyere said discussion was underway to appoint an ex Super Eagles star to take charge of the team, stressing that his name will be made public when contractual agreement has been reached.

while expressing dismay with the dearth of grassroots sports in recent times, the NYCN President said the body was aiming at creating a pool of talents to service the national teams in the nearest future.

"We are committed to developing sports at the grassroots," he said. "We are looking to see this team in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) soon.

"We are here in Abuja now and we promise to make Abuja and Nigeria proud."

Ugochinyere allayed the fears that funding will be the undoing of the teams just like others in the time past, stressing that deals have been agreed with sponsors, including AIETO Group.

"AIETO has promised to take over the funding of the team because they are so passionate about grassroots sports," he stressed.
