A total of 450 children between the ages of 5 to 18 participated in the 2024 Youth Arise Football Academy (YAFA) Summer Camp which climaxed on Saturday, August 31, in Abuja.
The YAFA Summer football development camp was held simultaneously in four Nigerian cities namely Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Jos and Lagos.
The Summer Camp featured an age grade football tournament in honour of Late Chief Olayiwola Olagbemiro, a former Plateau United and Green Eagles player who also served as Technical Director of the then Nigeria Football Association (NFA).
The tournament dubbed the late Chief Olayiwola Olagbemiro Age-grade football tournament was played in Lagos and Abuja.

In Lagos, Team Green won in the U-13 category, Team Red were winners in U-15, Team Blue clinched the trophy in the U-17 category while in the girls’ competition, Team Red were crowned champions.
In Abuja, Team Red won the U-13 Cup 5-4 on penalties after playing 0-0 in regulation time, Team Red again won in the U-15 category on penalties after 1-1 in regulation time while Team Blue exerted revenge against Team Blue by winning 2-0 in the U-17 category.
The president of YAFA and member of NFF Technical Committee, Coach Olayinka Olagbemiro, said all the participants in the summer football camp went home with trophies and medals.
He said there were also awards for the MVPs and Golden Boot winners.
The FA Cup winner with Plateau United commended corporate organisations like FCMB Pensions, SunTrust Bank and VURIN Group for supporting the laudable programme.
Coach Yinka whose father Olagbemiro left indelible footprints in Nigerian football, therefore, called on the NFF to show more interest in youth football development as he said academies like YAFA are the future of the game of football in the country.
