The speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye has charged youths in the state to take active part in the efforts to develop the state and Nigeria, saying their future is in their hands.

Owoeye spoke at a recent Town Hall Meeting organised by Kimpact Development Initiative. The meeting was attended by youths drawn from all parts of the state and it afforded them the opportunity to interact with top political office holders in the state.

Senior Resident Director of National Democratic Institute, Dr Stephen Snook warned that if youths feel shunned in the affairs of the state, they tend to go into activities that would be to the detriment of the future of that state.

Executive Director of KDI, Mr Bukola Idowu said the effort under the Osun Youth Agenda was aimed at enhancing collaboration between the legislative and executive arms of government to make and to implement policies that will particularly benefit the youths in the state.

Speaking further, the Speaker lamented the underemployment of youths and urged the young persons to be creative, innovative and enterprising.

Owoeye lamented that most youths lack the capacity to occupy top positions nowadays and urged youths to equip themselves with necessary knowledge and skills

He pledged full support for any positive endeavour that will advance the course of the youths.
