Your days are numbered, Military tells Turji

The military high command says it will soon bring one of the bandits’ kingpins terrorising Zamfara State and some parts of the Northwest region of the country, Bello Turji, to book for his offences against humanity.

It also said the issues of levies being collected from farmers before harvest by bandits led by Turji and other terrorists will soon become a thing of the past, while begging Nigerians to support the military to succeed in the mission.

Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, who said this at Defence Headquarters, Abuja, during a press briefing, explained that Turji’s days are numbered and that it was a matter of time before he meets his waterloo.

The Defence Chief’s vow came a few days after he led service chiefs to Sokoto State on the orders of President Bola Tinubu who asked him to go after the killers of innocent Nigerians.

Daily Trust reports that terrorists disturbing the peace of Northeast, Northwest and North Central have in recent times ordered farmers to pay some levies before they could have access to their farms.

Fielding questions from journalists at the briefing, Gen. Musa said, “On the issue of Turji, like I said, he is just a deranged individual that feels power, but I can bet you that it’s just a matter of time.

“A matter of time, we’re going to get this and I can assure you within the shortest possible time. We’re going to address that issue on the issue of payment (of levies from farmers). That is what they live on. And it shows you the desperation they are in.

“One, even when they get the money, they don’t have a way to use it. Two, is that the money they’re getting, they know is blood money. And that is why we all must come together to work with members of the armed forces and security agencies to deny them the ability to move freely within our communities.

“Please do not give them any support. Do not give them information on the movement of troops because this is what is really happening. Most of the area where this thing is continuing is because we have informants within the communities.”
