The Young Talent 99 football academy Lagos has emerged winner of the football event at the maiden edition of Ibarapa Sports Festival in Oyo State.
At least 16 youth clubs from Lagos, Oyo Edo and Ogun states featured in the sports festival.
Ibarapa sports festival which started on February 26 in Igboora, Ibarapa central area of the state ended on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
The sports festival which is sponsored by the Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi Foundation (DAFF), a non-governmental organisation is aimed at identifying talents and helping youths in the region to achieve their full potential through sporting activities.
The young athletes competed in football, athletics, ayo Olopon, draft and scrabble at the festival.
Speaking at the presentation of prizes to the winners, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede said the administration in Oyo State led by Engr. Seyi Makinde is committed to identifying talents among the youths.
According to him, the Ibarapa sports festival could serve as a launching pad.
He noted that in his bid to constitute the Oyo State female football team, the five best performing female football players at the Ibarapa Sports Festival will be part of the state team.
