A senatorial flag bearer of Advanced Peoples’ Democratic Alliance (APDA), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, popularly called Young Alhaji, has appealed to the people of Benue South senatorial district to give him the opportunity to serve them in the coming election.

Young Alhaji made the plea in his Otukpo home at the weekend when he hosted an all inclusive stakeholders meeting devoid of political party affiliation.

He admitted the speculations making round that he was no longer financially buoyant and urged the people of the district referred to as zone C to vote him into office as their next senator after ex-Senate President, David Mark whose mandate would constitutionally come to an end later this year.

“I called for this meeting to have a dialogue with all of you about the political happenings in Benue South since 1999 -till date. This gathering is irrespective of political divides and it is meant to find solution to my predicament. When will Benue south reciprocate my genuine gesture?,” he asked.

The senatorial hopeful added that he had no money presently to fund election but persuaded the people to recall his antecedents by paying him back with their votes, promising that he would never let the Idoma nation down when his dreams are realised.

Young Alhaji further went down memory lane to convince his crowd of supporters about his concerns and patriotism for his fatherland which according to him was why he returned home in the first place since over 20 years ago to delve into politics.

He emphasised, “for 20 years, I’m still rigmaroling to become a senator. If it were only money, I would have served as deputy governor; I would also have served as senator because I introduced political charity. So I want you to reciprocate my good gestures over the years now that I’m still alive.

“I have not given up my desire to serve you as a senator. I’m still standing. I have endured long sufferings. I have never and am not ready to sell Idoma interest for my personal gains. So this 2019 election will prove to me whether Idoma people are God fearing or not.

“If my money could not give me the position in the past, then I want to try it now that I don’t have money. I have been truthful to the Idoma struggle and emancipation so I deserved to be pitied financially and otherwise,” Young Alhaji said.
