Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has stated that, with candidates that are popular among the people like Umar Bago and others, it will be much easier for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the Governorship and other elections in the state.
He made the remark while speaking at the fundraising dinner and book presentation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2023 elections in Abuja Tuesday night.
He said they allowed people’s choice to prevail during the Governorship primaries to chose Umar Bago as his successor.
Bago is currently the member representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency of Niger State in the House of Representatives.
According to the governor, he refused to vow to pressure to get so much involved in the primary election that produced Bago as the party’s Governorship candidate.
Governor Bello said they allowed Niger State people have the candidate of their choice for the election.
He said, “The people of Niger have spoken and I deliberately refused to get involved in the primaries. Even with all the pressure to get involved, I said let the people speak.
“When you allow the will of the people to speak, you would not have problems in the general elections.
“You are going to emerge winner after the general elections Insha Allah. You allow people to decide what you want.
“The people have chosen you. As we are now, as far as this project, I won’t be wrong if I say we are just waiting for time. We need all the prayers and support. We brought you to support his process and you will never regret it.
“For those of you that have the means to support this cause to the fullest. It is an investment worth it”.
The governor therefore called for support to ensure that Bago emerges as winner of the March 11th governorship election.
He advised him to work closely with his running mate while calling on them to be patient and tolerate each other.
