The Gombe State Police Command has faulted an intelligence report by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which claimed bandits have infiltrated the state.
The state’s Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Bello Mu’azu, had on Tuesday said there is an intelligence report that bandits have infiltrated Gombe State and recruiting informants.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, denied the report, saying there was no such threat in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday, he said the information of the video clip by the NSCDC commandant being circulated on social media was not correct.

“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to state emphatically that there is no such threat in the state, and in collaboration with other security agencies, we are committed in ensuring the protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order,” he said.
Abubakar, therefore, called on residents of the state to discard the content of the video and go about their lawful businesses as usual; “as the police are on top of the situation and assure people and residents of the state of their safety.”
