Yoruba traditional rulers under the aegis of the Yoruba Obas Forum have called for the reinstatement of the roles assigned to traditional rulers in the 1969 Nigerian Constitution.
The forum, which consists of frontline Yoruba kings from South West and North Central, said this would engender peace and stability in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the president and the Molokun of Atijere, Oba Samuel Adeoye; the General Secretary and Olukotun of Ikotun-Ile, Oba Abdulrasaq Abioye; and the administrator, Dr Michael Ajayi, the forum said traditional institution remained sacred and pivotal to the success and survival of any society.
