The Yobe State Government, in collaboration with the security agencies, has moved to suspend the use of motorcycles in four LGAs, Fika, Fune, Gujba and Gulani, to reduce crime and criminality following Monday’s attacks that led to the killing of one person, razing of 146 houses and displacement of 1,686 persons in Fika LGA.
In a press briefing after the end of a meeting with the Deputy Governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana; traditional leaders and security agencies, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Garba, said 14 resolutions were reached at the meeting.
He disclosed that the state government and its partners agreed to suspend and control the use of motorcycles in four LGAs which were the front-line areas.
He noted that the recent crisis in Fika and Fune axes, especially in Gurjaje village, was not an ethnic or tribal conflict, but rather caused by the influx of immigrant pastoralists.
