Fika who spoke shortly after an executive council meeting at the Government House in Damaturu said N2.957 billion was approved for the supply and installation of assorted equipment in the 200-bed capacity ultra modern hospital in Damaturu, renovation of the Maryam Abatcha maternity hospital, and furnishing of doctors/professors’ newly built three-bed room flats at different locations in the state capital, Damaturu.
The commissioner said the council approved N723.87 million to improve secondary and tertiary education in the state which includes construction of a perimeter fence at the College of Agriculture Gujba due its precarious location, renovation of GGSS, Damaturu and upgrading of all the tertiary institutions to international standard as demanded by the Board for Technical Education.
Fika also disclosed that the council approved N8billion for the construction of the 53km Nguru- Machina road and the three kilometer Machina township road with six kilometer drainages, extension roads and drainages within two housing estates in Damaturu, the Yobe State University and the construction of the River Kamadugu gana bridge at Kayaiya.
He said council also approved N25million for the completion of the Damaturu Hotel to provide visitors and investors with modern hotel accommodation, compensate land owners of the sites of the new Damaturu market and purchase of fire fighting equipment, adding that N936million was also approved for the installation of 1000 units of single-arm solar security lights and supply and installation of equipment for the newly constructed Ministry for Lands and Survey all in Damaturu.
