Yobe State will hold elections into its 17 local government councils on Feb 27, Dr Mamman Mohammed, chairman of the state electoral body, has announced.
He told newsmen in Damaturu on Tuesday that more than 1,365,000 registered voters were expected to participate in the exercise to produce 17 council chairmen and 178 councillors.

The chairman called for the cooperation of all security agencies for the successful conduct of the elections.
“In our efforts to achieve this, we need an environment that is conducive and fully secured to allow free, fair, credible and peaceful election without rancour or acrimony,” he said.
