Yobe to build 50 schools for girls

The Yobe State Government has announced plans to construct 50 new secondary schools for girls and rehabilitate 255 schools over the next five years as part of its initiative to boost girl child education.

Malam Abdullahi Bulah, the Project Coordinator for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), who disclosed this Tuesday during an advocacy visit to emirate councils to garner their support, said that the project would not only focus on building new schools, but also on renovating dilapidated structures and providing essential infrastructure and learning materials to create a conducive learning environment.

He stressed the importance of parental commitment in ensuring that girls remained in school and completed secondary education.
