Yobe Desert Stars Technical Adviser, Ngozi Elechi, survived a ghastly motor-accident this afternoon along Jos-Akwanga road.

However, he is being hospitalized along with his goalkeeper trainer.

The former Go Round coach and his keeper trainer were on their way to Lafia, ahead of the rest of the team, for their week 10 fixture with Nasarawa United on Wednesday.

One of the players, who spoke to our reporter, said the coach was travelling in his official car when the fatal accident happened.

Although he could not ascertain the extent of injuries sustained by the duo, he said the accident victims were rushed to a hospital in Akwanaga where they were admitted for treatment and later taken to another hospital in Lafia for more medical attention.

This is indeed not the best of times for coach Elechi who was recently given three match ultimatum to change the fortunes of Yobe Stars or get the boot.

Following the unfortunate incident, Yobe Stars will now depend on their assistant coach Taiwo Yusuf to prosecute the match with Nasarawa United.

“We’ve just been informed that our Technical Adviser, Coach Ngozi Elechi and goalkeeper trainer, Muhammed ‘Zikko’ had a serious accident on their way to Lafia.

“The accident occurred along Akwanga road. He was travelling in his official car with the goalkeeper trainer. They were rushed to a hospital in Akwanaga where they are presently on admission.

“Despite the unfortunate incident, we are not going to be demoralised. Our ambition to win the maximum points against Nasarawa United stands.

“As it is, our Chief Coach, Taiwo Yusuf will guide us in prosecuting the match,” he said.

The General Manager of the club, Abdulrahman Ago, who confirmed the accident, said he was not in the mood to speak much on the unfortunate incident.
