The Yobe State Government said it spent over N9 billion on agricultural projects and programmes from 2019 to 2022 to boost productivity and food security in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, disclosed this at the handing over ceremony of the administrative block and 20 hectares to the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Zaria, donated by the state government.
Dr Amshi said the Governor Mai Mala Buni administration attached great importance to the agricultural sector given its potential as a major source of employment and income generation.
She said, “In order to help sustain farmers through increased food production and enhanced standard of living, the Buni administration deliberately tailored its agricultural policies towards accelerated food production through the provision of basic inputs and agricultural implements, particularly tractors, animal traction, fertiliser, chemicals, seedlings, and even threshers.”
