The Yobe State Government has successfully resolved 3,214 cases of various conflicts including farmers/herders’ clashes, communal disputes, marriage issues, and other forms of conflicts within three years.
Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, the Chairman of the State Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (known as Zauren Sulhu), disclosed this to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital.
He highlighted that the committee, inaugurated in 2021, plays a crucial role in resolving crises and clashes while also working to prevent social vices like drug abuse that negatively impact the youth and children.
He said the committee’s responsibilities extend to mediating and mitigating disputes between husbands and wives, parents and children, and among other disagreeing parties in communities.
