The chairman, Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State, Zannah Dapchi says N2.6 million is being spent monthly for the maintenance of 220 boreholes across the council.
Addressing journalists yesterday, Dapchi said this was to provide portable drinking water to the people in the area.
“Most of the boreholes I inherited were not functioning. I spent over N183 million to overhaul them and drilled 46 more to support the existing ones” he said.
He said the state government had released N330.9 million to the local government for the 2018 action plan projects.
“The projects executed cut across education, health, water and electrification. Almost all the projects are either completed or on the batch of completion. They will be completed before the end of our tenure,” he added.
