Yobe govt refutes media report on suspension of village head

Yobe state government has debunked media reports by an online news platform, claiming that Governor Mai Mala Buni has suspended a village head for complaining about water scarcity.

The report claimed that Yobe state government has suspended the Lawan of Kadi village under Fika Local Government, Abubakar Lumo Kadi for coming out to appeal to the government to address the acute water scarcity in his domain.

A statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, said the purported media report “was just an act of mischief and cheap blackmail intended to mislead the public to give the governor a bad name.”

According to him, the governor would not in any way take action on what he has no knowledge about but surprisingly got to know of the purported suspension in the said report.

“For those who are conversant with the character of Governor Buni, know him of having listening ears to people’s problems and a good heart of extending goodwill to solve such problems,” Mohammed said.
