Yobe govt cautions against use of unapproved textbooks

The Yobe State government has warned against using unapproved textbooks in the school system, saying all textbooks and instructional materials used to deliver the curriculum contents must conform to the norms and values of the people.

The state government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Mohd Sani Idriss, said the warning became necessary due to the content of some books used in teaching pupils in some schools in Nigeria.

The government has also directed all partners intervening in the area of teacher training or students learning improvement, or similar programmes to submit copies of their instructional materials to the ministry, through the Education Resource Centre for scrutiny and approval for immediate effect.
