Yobe, Gombe, Bayelsa govs sign 2025 budget

The governors of Yobe, Gombe and Bayelsa states signed the budget of their respective states into law on Monday.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State while signing into law the 2025 finance and appropriation bill, said the 2025 budget, tagged “Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction” would focus on the economic development of the state through empowerment initiatives.

He said: ‘‘It is gratifying that in less than two months, the bills have been passed by the House of Assembly and we are here today to perform this important occasion of signing the bills into law to give the government a legal framework for its 2025 expenditure.

‘‘Our administration is committed to judicious use and investment of our resources into people-oriented programmes and projects, especially education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, infrastructural development, wealth creation, and empowerment to stimulate economic growth.”

On his part, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya,  signed the state’s N369.9 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill into law.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Yahaya described the 2025 budget as a blueprint for economic growth and social development.

He said the appropriation law has reflected his administration’s resolve to deepen its development agenda as it focuses on sectors that directly impact the lives of our citizens.

Also, the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, signed the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill passed by the House of Assembly into law.

Governor Diri on October 31, 2024, presented to the assembly a budget estimate of N689,440,348,916.30.

The assembly however raised the estimates by N10,132,818,675 and passed the total sum of N699,573,167,592.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Diri said the signing of the bill before the end of the current year was in line with his administration’s policy of operating its budget between January and December as well as its commitment to transparency and good governance.
