Yobe establishes 4 sesame hubs, resuscitates state-owned industries

The Yobe State Government has established four new sesame clearing and packaging industries in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum and Damaturu LGAs to promote the production of quality and valuable seeds.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in his office at the government house, Damaturu.

He said the industries were built based on the fact that Yobe was one of the leading states in the production of sesame in all the 17 local government areas and to improve production to enhance economic activities across the state.

Gubana said the construction of the industries became necessary after some international companies in Europe and the Middle East indicated interest to commence international trade in sesame seeds.

He further said that the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni had resuscitated four out of the seven state-owned industries to create more employment opportunities and improve the revenue of the state.
