The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe state said about 100 aspirants have contested to clinch the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primary elections in the state.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the elections in Damaturu on Tuesday, the party’s returning officer, Ambassador Dauda Danladi, said the election was conducted peacefully across the state.
He said a total of 4,950 delegates from 178 wards of the state had participated in the hitch-free primaries.
He said, for the senatorial tickets, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam; Alhaji Ibrahim Bomoi; Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan had emerged the candidates of zone A, B and C.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam who vied for Yobe East pulled 2,272 votes, the Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan representing Yobe North scored 1,690 and Alhaji Ibrahim Bomoi, Yobe South 1,336 votes respectively” he said.
For the six House of Representatives, Danladi gave the names of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim; Hon Zakariya Yau Galadima; Alhaji Lawan Shettima Ali; Alhaji Tijjani Zannah Zakaria; Alhaji Ibrahim Umar and Barr. Abubakar Yerima Idris Ajeje as the successful candidates.
He said the only place that the party had hitches was at Gujba local government saying that was why the election venue was shifted to Damaturu based on agreement of the two aspirants to conduct the election at a neutral ground.
The committee commended APC supporters and the co-opted members for the maturity they shown throughout the electioneering process.
