The paramount ruler and Ebeni-Eken of Yenagoa town, His Royal Highness, Maxwell Amatolo Clarkson-Kikile, Oguo V, has died after 41 years on the throne.
The revered traditional and patriarch of Epie-Atissa kingdom, who ascended the throne in October 1982, died on August 3, 2023 at the age of 89 after a brief illness.
Most natives of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, described the late monarch’s reign as peaceful and developmental oriented.
They observed that his reign witnessed the creation of Bayelsa State, a core Ijaw state and Yenagoa, his kingdom becoming the capital of the state.

Already, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, had commensurate with the people of Yenagoa LGA and the entire Epie-Atissa kingdom over the loss of their monarch, saying the state has lost a worthy leader whose reign was not only peaceful but successful.
Senator Diri, who led a high-powered delegation of state government officials on a condolence visit to the Yenagoa Community Council of Chiefs, promised that his administration would embark on more development- oriented projects in Epie-Atissa, which hosts the state capital.
