Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Service of the Federation (HoCSF), will retire from her position on August 14 this year, after serving for five years.

This was disclosed on Wednesday in Abuja by Mohammed Ahmed, Director of Communications in her office, during a media briefing to mark the 2024 Civil Service Week celebrations.

Ahmed noted that this would be Dr. Yemi-Esan’s final media briefing as HoCSF.

She will turn 60 on August 13, having been born on August 13, 1964.

Daily Trust reports that the theme for this year’s Civil Service Week is “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa.”

Dr Yemi-Esan was appointed Acting HoCSF on September 18, 2019, by former President Muhammadu Buhari, following the removal of her predecessor, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita.

She was officially inaugurated on March 4, 2020, while serving as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

Born in Kaduna State and hailing from Ikoyi, Ijumu, Kogi State, Dr Yemi-Esan attended Bishop Smith School and Federal Government College Ilorin, Kwara State.

She graduated as the best dental surgery student from the University of Ibadan in 1987 and later earned a certificate in health planning and management, as well as a master’s degree in public and international administration.

Dr Yemi-Esan became a Federal Permanent Secretary in 2012, initially serving in the Service Policy and Strategy Office under the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

She later held positions in the Federal Ministry of Information, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the Career Management Office (OHCSF).
