The Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has said it would spend N1.7 billion for the rehabilitation of the Yauri water treatment plant in Kebbi State.
The Managing Director of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa during a stakeholders’ meeting on water projects and inspection of completed projects across the state said perennial water shortage in the past 20 years in Yauri had made it difficult for people in the area to access portable water supply.
He said the commission would provide additional overhead tanks of one million litres to the existing ones to curb the water shortage problem.
While inspecting works done by the contractors on health facilities, power, street lights, schools and road network in parts of the state, he commended the benefitting communities for expressing their appreciation for the interventions. He urged them to safeguard the facilities for the benefit of their communities.
