The former Executive Chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Farouk Yarma has expressed surprise over the deafening silence on part of Super Eagles stars at this period that Nigeria and the rest of the world is combating the coronavirus scourge.

The football administrator in a statement said this is the time for the Super Eagles players, especially those who are plying their trade in the lucrative football leagues in Europe to emulate their counterparts who have made huge donations to their respective countries to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said if all hands are on deck, the world would ultimately overcome the deadly virus.

“We have heard of the contributions made by players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi among others towards the fight against coronavirus in their countries and the rest of the world.

“I waited eagerly to hear the same news from Nigerian players, especially those who are playing in the lucrative European leagues but that didn’t happen.

“Nigerians just like the rest of the world are in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Our players should be magnanimous and donate generously to help in the fight against this common enemy.

“I know some of these players can do it. They should not withhold their financial support at this critical moment,” he advised.
