A statement in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Olusegun Adeniyi, said the nomination was part of deliberate measures by the President to re-engineer and reposition the NDDC for greater efficiency and effective service delivery.
“In a letter to the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, President Yar’adua asked for expeditious confirmation of Air Vice Marshal Larry Koinyan (rtd) of Bayelsa State as chairman of the new Board and Mr Chibuzor Ugwoha of Rivers State as the Managing Director of the Commission,” it said.
Other nominees to the board who are expected to be confirmed by the Senate in consultations with the House of Representatives, include Arc. Esoetok Ikpong Etteh (Akwa Ibom), Executive Director (Projects) and Pastor Power Aginighan (Delta), Executive Director (Finance & Accounts).
Also nominated as part-time members of the NDDC board are: Mr Aloysius Nwagboso (Abia), Chief Dan Abia (Akwa Ibom), Mr Anthony Orubo (Bayelsa), Mr Ekpo Asuquo Okon (Cross River) and Mr Emmanuel O. Ogidi (Delta).
The list also includes Jude I. Ise-Idehen (Edo), Akeru Ikechukwu Joseph (Imo), Mr Benson G. Enikuomehin (Ondo) and Mr Emmanuel G. Georgewill (Rivers).
The former governor of Kano State, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso (North-West), retired Brig.-Gen. Tunde Ogbeha (North Central) and Alhaji Asheikh Jarma (North-East), would serve as representatives of non-oil mineral producing states on the Board.
The statement said that Dr Daru Owei will be the representative of oil producing companies in the Niger Delta.
The 44-year-old nominee for the post of Managing Director, Chibuzor Ugwoha, holds a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and has about 12 years cumulative experience in Community Development with Elf Petroleum, Nigeria Ltd and Total (Exploration and Production) Nigeria Ltd.
He is currently the Deputy General Manager, JVA (Onshore), Sustainable Development, at Total (Exploration & Production) Nigeria Limited. (NAN)
