Yobe Stars defender, Yanmar Moses Jnr has said visiting Akwa United will stretch his team to the fullest when the two teams meet tomorrow at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu.

While Yobe Stars suffered a slim 0-1 loss at neignbours El-Kanemi Warriors in their last match, Akwa United thumped Go Round 3-0 in Uyo.

However, Yanmar is confident that Yobe Stars will bounce back to winning ways against the ‘promise keepers’ from Uyo in their week 7 tie.

He told Daily Trust in a chat yesterday that Akwa United are among the most formidable teams in the league so they can pose a serious challenge at any given time.

The defender said even as Akwa United will be a hard nut to crack, they won’t escape defeat in tomorrow’s encounter.

According to him, Yobe Stars have got used to tackling the heavyweights in the league.

“We are not expecting a stroll in the park on Thursday when we take on Akwa United. They are a strong side that deserves our respect.

“As a matter of fact, they are going to stretch us to the fullest. We would have to do something special to beat them.

“We may be the underdogs but they won’t survive. We are going for the maximum points,” he said.

Yanmar also said he is grateful to God for the playing time he is enjoying under the new coach of Yobe Stars Ngozi Elechi.

He said the former coach didn’t give him enough opportunities but he persevered.
