Police in Bayelsa State through the assistance of the youths from Ogobiri community in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state have rescued a female student of the Niger Delta University (NDU), Deborah Emafridom, from being beheaded by a suspected yahoo boy identified as Sunday Favour Ojo.
The youths of the area said the undergraduate student was lured with money by the suspected ritualist and they have been dating for some time now.
They said he convinced her to escort him to Setraco Road along Ogobiri-Toruebeni drive in Sagbama LGA where he tried to behead her.
Daily Trust gathered that the suspected ritualist tied the girl’s hands and legs, and was about to cut off her neck when the youths of the community who had traced his movement arrested him and handed him over to officers of Operation Doo-Akpo, the state government special security squad.
Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident through a statement, urged the public to continually volunteer useful information to the police.
