Christmas: Police ban fireworks in Edo

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 5 – Delta and Edo states), Lawn Tanko Jimeta, has banned the use of fireworks and crackers during and after the 2022 Christmas celebration and the New Year period in Edo State.

Jimeta told journalists that the devices were explosives which by their very nature were harmful and capable of disturbing the existing public peace and causing unnecessary panic.

He said, “This is to inform the public that the use of fireworks/firecrackers and knockouts before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations are completely banned.”
