Traders, under the aegis of the Association of Wuye Ultra-Modern Market Allottees (AWUMMA), protested in Abuja over what they termed as harassment by policemen.
The chairman of the group, Nnaemeka Nwobodo, said that the protest was held to alert the public on the flagrant abuse of court judgment and rulings by the police, leading to the locking of the gates and shops of the beneficiaries at the market.
“This is against the decision of the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal, Abuja, respectively, which in different decisions asked the beneficiaries to occupy the market,” he said.
The association called on President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to the cries of the beneficiaries of Wuye Market, saying that the fight against corruption should begin with war against injustice.
