The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Wukari in Taraba State, Professor Jude Rebo, has assured students living off-campus that the university authorities will provide adequate security for their safety.
He gave this assurance during the matriculation of new students for the 2024/2025 academic session in Wukari. Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Banake Elisha Sambo, the vice chancellor expressed concern over the lack of adequate hostels, which has forced a significant number of students to live off-campus.
The vice chancellor stated that it was unfortunate that students living off-campus are facing security threats. He added that constant patrols of all the hostels outside the main campus will be maintained to ensure the students’ safety.
He mentioned that while efforts are being made to provide more hostels for students on campus, the university management regularly interfaces with owners of private hostels outside the campus to ensure that students living there are safe.
