Worshippers attacked, one killed in Kaduna

The incident occurred at Ungwar Pau-Pau, Kachia in Southern Kaduna, when gunmen invaded a Catholic Church, shooting sporadically.
Witnessed said one of the youths guarding the church was killed while several others who were injured are now receiving treatment at various hospitals in the area.
“They came with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically. One person died instantly, while several others have been admitted at various hospitals. The Mass was going on when the gunmen came”,a witness said.
Another resident of the area, Timothy Gomel said: “Military personnel came and asked some of our youths to lead them to the path the attackers took. As am talking to you, they are combing the bush”.
 Chairman of Kachia Local Government Area, Peter Agite, could not be reached for comment but the vice chairman, Alfred Alfred, confirmed the incident.
Alfred said he was yet to get the casualty figure of the attack.  
Police in Kaduna were yet to issue an official statement at the time this report was filed. The command’s spokesman, Aminu Lawan, could not be reached for comments.
