World Polio Day: Rotary sensitises Bauchi residents on immunisation

The Rotary Club International has commenced massive sensitisation of Bauchi State residents on routine polio immunisation to address some norms and customs against the vaccines, insisting that the vaccines are safe.

Speaking during the sensitisation to mark the 2022 World Polio Day on Monday in Bauchi, President of Rotary Club International, Chukwunonso Nwobi, explained that the campaign was meant to make the people of the state to embrace vaccination to consolidate the successes of a certified polio-free state.

Nwobi said, “There are some norms and customs that kick against the vaccines, but we are coming out to create awareness that these vaccines are safe. The conditions in which we are seeing polio survivors today are something that we can prevent. They’re situations that we can avert.”
