World Cities Day 2020: NITP wants investment in physical development

The FCT chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has called on the FCT Administration to localize the World Urban Agenda 2030 with particular reference to Goal 11 which aims at making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Chairman, FCT Chapter of NITP, Tpl. Garba Jibrin, in a statement issued yesterday to mark this year’s World Cities Day which holds today, said the United Nations General Assembly, by its resolution 68/239, designated the 31st of October of every year as the World Cities Day with the objective of making cities in particular, and human settlements in general, livable and sustainable.

He said this year’s World Cities Day with the theme: “Valuing our Communities and Cities”, calls for a look at the economic, social, environmental and innovative values around which urban settlements have developed over time, and to seek ways and actions that would lead to more functional and sustainable urban areas.
