Women’s March: Navigating with Hajia Lami Tumaka

Hajia Lami Tumaka is one force to reckon with, and a personality that cannot be easily  forgotten, when the topic of discussion is the Nigerian maritime industry.

She served the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in so many capacities that one can hardly find any space, especially in corporate communication and public relations, but also in other sectors, where she has not left a mark.

In continuation of the Daily Trust Series on Nigerian women worth celebrating, here are the reasons why Hajiya Lami was picked;

  • She was Head, Public Relations at NIMASA.
  • She developed a Communications Policy to guide the Agency’s interaction with the media.
  • She developed a comprehensive directory of the media (print, broadcast and online) across the country and ensured that NIMASA was adequately reported and given ample publicity mileage in all.
  • She was pioneer Director of the Special Duties (External Relations & Technical Cooperation) Unit. She led the team that developed the new Unit’s structure and functions.
