Women’s March: Celebrating Sa’a Ibrahim’s media milestones

Hajiya Sa’a Ibrahim is a journalist whose works have set the pace for female journalism in Northern Nigeria.

Her contributions to media earned her her current position as the first female chairperson of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).

She has a combined working experience of over 37 years in the media industry, heading various offices.

Here are highlights of the life and works of Hajiya Sa’a Ibrahim;

  • She is the Director General of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), Kano.
  • She is the current and first female chairperson of Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON).
  • She is a member, Safe Motherhood Committee, Kano where she supported the development of media programs to create awareness on maternal health
  • She was former Director, Radio Kano FM.
  • She worked with UNICEF on the planning and implementation of interventions leading to the uptake of Polio vaccines in Kano in 2002
  • She worked closely with the Kano State Ministry of Health and partner agencies to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the impact of radio programmes for specific health issues /interventions in 2009.
  • She became the first female head of media in Kano State in 1985.
