Women should be given special  attention  in all  agricultural programmes to resolve the nation’s food crises, the chairperson, Women Wing, Sokoto State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Hajiya Saratu Ibrahim, has said.
She said women have a lot to offer towards the realisation of the objective of achieving food security in the nation and stressed the need for women farmers to be assisted like their male counterparts.
The women farmers’ leader added that more women could invest in various aspects of farming with required assistance from government and banks.
The chairperson urged women in the state to redouble effort towards attaining food sufficiency in Nigeria.
“Women need to be mobilised towards producing food not only for their use but for the good of the nation,” she stated.
Hajiya Saratu, however, commended Sokoto State government for its commitment to agricultural development and assured of their support towards its policies and programmes.
