Women in the community of Gonin Gora took to the Kaduna-Abuja highway, blocking it off Saturday morning, to protest the abduction of two people in the area by gunmen.
The abduction took place around 12 midnight on Friday when the gunmen stormed Angwan Auta community in Gonin Gora district of Chikun Local Government Area and abducted four residents.

Daily Trust gathered that two of the abducted were rescued by the soldiers and local JTF personnel area of the community.
It was learned that the JTF and the soldiers engaged the gunmen which led to the rescue of the two victims.
One of the JTF commanders in the community who doesn’t want his name mentioned confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, saying it was the sixth times kidnappers are coming to the Gonin Gora area to abduct their victims.
“The women only came out to show their anger over the abduction but the road has been cleared since morning. They (women) were angered by the abduction of the two persons,” he said.
It was further gathered that motorists traveling to Abuja were forced to divert through Juji community to avoid the gridlock caused by the women protesters.
Another resident of the area who simply identified himself as Steven said the protest was peaceful and the women only passed a message to the government.
The Police Command is yet to make an official comment on the issue and the Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Jalige didn’t answer his calls.
