The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) said it has prosecuted 28 persons for rape cases in Yobe State in the last 11 months.
The chairperson of the federation in Yobe State, Barrister Hannatu Farouk, disclosed this to newsmen at FIDA Yobe Law Week in Damaturu, the state capital.

She said while some suspected rapists were convicted, more than 30 negotiated out of court, which is known as alternative dispute resolution.

According to her, the Child Protection Act will reduce early child marriage and gender-based violence in the state.
