Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, yesterday, said for any economy to be strong and prosperous, women must be involved in various empowerment programmes.
Dr. Ganduje stated this at the graduation of 500 rural women who were trained on various trades and skills under the KANAWA Economic Empowerment Initiatives.
The Governor said incessant conflicts in matrimonial homes would be reduced if women are empowered, noting that the administration would soon flag-off the training of 100 men and 50 women as motor mechanics.
He pointed out that research had shown that peaceful homes are the ones where women are engaged in one trade or another.
Ganduje said in two weeks’ time, the government will graduate technicians, who were trained on automobile and another would be sponsored for Peugeot automobile training and among them 60 girls. The Chairman, Kano State Empowerment Committee and Commissioner for Information, Mallam Muhammad Garba, said thegovernment has empowered more than 10,000 women and about 15,000 others will benefit in future.
