Muslim women in the FCT on Monday held a public lecture on the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to mark this year’s Eid el-Maulud.
The lecture, titled: “The Prophet (SAW): A Mercy for Mankind”, reflected on the life, virtues, Sunnah, among others, of the Prophet.
The event, which was first of its kind, was solely organised by women and had women as presenters and participants.
One of the organisers, Dr Habiba Yahaya Alfadarai, said Maulud was best celebrated by engaging in the remembrance of the life of the Prophet (SAW) which was the essence of the gathering and to show others how he lived his life, virtues and his Sunnah.
Hajiya Khadija Gambo Hawaja, an Islamic preacher, who presented a lecture, charged the participants that for them to be better people, there was the need for them to be in touch with their own history.
All the presenters emphasised the need for Muslim faithful to always emulate the life of the Prophet (SAW) and live by his virtues.
