The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin has said women have made a lot of sacrifices for the success of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the years.
He spoke yesterday in Abuja, when a forum of former zonal women leaders of the party paid him a courtesy visit.
Senator Barau commended the women leaders for their sacrifices and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi for the passion they have shown in bringing women into various strategic positions for the socio-economic development of the country.
Members of the forum from the six geopolitical zones of the country were led by the former North-West zonal women leader of the APC, Hajiya Yahanasu Buba Ahmed.
Speaking during the visit, according to a statement by the Spokesperson for the Deputy Senate President, Ismail Mudashir, a former South-South zonal women leader of the ruling party, Mrs. Racheal Akpabio, said Senator Barau does not discriminate against women.
“We are aware of the numerous progressive things you are doing in our party. The most important thing is that you don’t discriminate between women and men in whatever you do; you carry women along. We are grateful for this,” she said.
