Co-chair of the group, Fatima-Askira Satomi told a press conference in Maiduguri that they needed proactive measures to protect women.
“Our concern is that the plight of women in Damasak and Dikwa town is worrisome. We are deeply concerned.
“We are saying in strong voice that the military needs to do more secure and protect the women and children especially in all the deep fields.
“I earlier mentioned women and security, it is very important that our women are well protected, there is urgent need for women and children protection, especially those areas that were recently attacked by insurgents.
“I mean Damasak and Dikwa towns respectively, I think we need to adopt new strategy to address this resurgence and protect the women and children. To avert protection issues with the regard to abduction, shelters and rape of women and children, concerted efforts must be adopted,” Fatima urged.
