The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said empowerment of women is not just a matter of social justice but a catalyst for national development.
Mrs Tinubu stated this on Thursday when she was decorated the Grand Matron of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria during a ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja.
She said the NCWS had always been a beacon for advocacy addressing systemic issues that affected women in Nigeria as the nation strived to create a more equitable and empowered society, where women were not just beneficiaries but integral contributors to the nation’s progress and prosperity.
The First Lady said she was aware of the challenges being faced by women in our society, including discrimination, violence, and limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

She, however, said, “It is our collective responsibility to address these issues and work towards creating a society where every woman can thrive and fulfill her potential.”
