Women business gets boost in Katsina

Katsina State government has inaugurated a steering committee that intends to boost women participation in businesses through improved access to finance  under state women export development programme.
Inaugurating the committee, the state Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, said the committee is to provide technical direction in the articulation of the women in export development programme.
Others are  to promote economic growth, support creation and retention of jobs, enhance innovation productivity and competitiveness, including raising living standards and way to reduce poverty in the state.
He said, already, moringa, sesame, cotton, Hibscus flower, sheabutter/shea nuts and baobab have been identified for export in the state and encourage women to take advantage of the state’s comparative advantages in such items.
While assuring that the present administration will provide the frame work for women to enable them contribute effectively to development, Yakubu said women in export programme will be encouraged to focus on integrating small medium enterprises into global supply chain within the overall policy objectives of employment generation.
