The Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan, has charged states and local governments to encourage greater participation of women in government policies and programmes.
The minister who was in Government House in Asaba to see the state governor Tuesday, said her visit to the state was a continuation of her advocacy and enlightenment campaign on the empowerment of Nigerian women.
She said her campaign was critical to encourage the womenfolk to take opportunity of several ongoing Federal Government programmes for women development.
Responding Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said, “The more we engage our women the better for the nation. They are the pillars of the home. Anything that will uplift them will bring peace to the home.”
