A Kano State High Court has sentenced one Aisha Kabir to death by hanging for killing her neighbour, Bahijja Abubakar.
Justice Amina Adamu found her guilty of using a knife to stab her neighbour to death because she called her a prostitute.
The defence counsel, Auwal Abubakar Ringim, said he would study the judgement before going for an appeal.
He said, “What happened was that there was a misunderstanding between the defendant and the deceased. Later, the deceased took her friends to the defendant’s place of work and attacked her by beating her and what happened took place then.”

On his part, a relative of the deceased, Danlami Abbas, expressed delight over the judgement.
“Alhamdulillah, we thank God and all who gave their contributions towards seeing this day that my sister got justice.”
Also, the prosecution led by Lamido Abba Sorondinki, said justice would serve as a lesson to others.
