Woman supplying arms to bandits arrested in Zamfara

Tactical Operatives of the Zamfara state police command in collaboration with FIB/STS from Force Headquarters, Abuja, led by DSP Hussaini Gimba, have arrested a 30-year-old woman identified as Fatima Lawali with 991 live AK47 ammunition.

Parading the suspect, the state police commissioner, Mr Ayuba Elkanah, said the woman was intercepted close to a bridge along Sokoto-Gusau road just before she entered Gusau, the state capital.

The woman who confessed to her crime said she had been supplying arms to bandits in Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina Kebbi, Kaduna and Niger states before she was intercepted.

“I was on my from Dabagi village in Sokoto state to Danjibga / Tsafe axis for onward delivery of the live ammunition to a terror kingpin called Adamu Alero who has been terrorising Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state and many other communities in the neighbouring Katsina states”

“I’m saddened by my arrest and I’m seeking for the forgiveness of the families of those who lost their loved, ones especially women like me whose husbands and children were killed by those we supplied ammunition to,” she confessed.

Earlier the state police boss said Tactical Operatives raided bandits’ enclaves in the State.

“The operations led to a serious gun battle with the bandits where unspecified numbers of bandits were fatally injured with others escaped with possible gunshot wounds. Ten (10) assorted AK-47 rifles with magazines containing one hundred and forty three (143) rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene,” Mr Elkanah added.
