Woman stabs lover to death in Edo

A 26-year-old woman, Gift Obieriei, has stabbed her lover, Eghosa Iguodala (44), to death in Benin City, Edo State.

City & Crime gathered that the mother of three, who hails from Ethiope East LGA of Delta State, has been arrested by the police.

A source said the incident happened on Monday on Imafidon Street, Off Upper Siluko Road, Egor Quarters, Benin City, when the woman stabbed her lover with a broken bottle.

It was further learnt that the woman stabbed the lover in the neck and back after he pursued her with a machete on sighting her in another man’s house in his area.

City & Crime further learnt that the victim, a commercial bus driver, was married with four children.

In a viral video, a woman who identifies herself as Gift, whose right wrist is handcuffed to the back seat of a car, says: “As he see me with another person, he come fight me for the person house. I don’t live in his house. I went to see someone.”

The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, saying the police found the corpse of the man in the pool of his blood at the scene.

He said a suspect, Gift Obieriei, was arrested and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
